MDA Elects New President

Dr. Betty Dunsmore

Dr. Elizabeth (Betty) Dunsmore of Dauphin, Manitoba, was elected president of the Manitoba Dental Association (MDA) at the MDA annual meeting held on January 28.

A 1983 graduate of the University of Manitoba faculty of dentistry, Dr. Dunsmore has practised in Dauphin since that time.

First elected to the MDA Board in 2005, Dr. Dunsmore is an active member of the dental community. She served in a voluntary capacity with the charitable organization Kindness in Action. This work included travelling to Peru and Venezuela in 2004 and 2006 respectively, to provide dental care.

Dr. Dunsmore is also very engaged with her community. She served on the Board of the Parkland Crisis Centre & Women's Shelter for 8 years and she has been actively involved with several local school parent councils.

In other election results, Dr. Joel Antel of Winnipeg, was voted MDA vice-president for the 2010–11 term.
