College of Dentistry

The College of Dentistry invites applications from qualified individuals for a full time tenure-track research position.  The successful candidate will have a PhD and post-doctoral experience with a research background in oral health and precision medicine.  The successful candidate will possess a proven research track record that includes evidence of research publication and secured external grant funding (preferably Tri-Agency funding). Preference will be given to applicants who hold a professional dental degree (DMD, DDS, BDS).

We are seeking candidates with experience and interests in emerging precision health approaches to disease prevention, diagnosis, and treatment.  These approaches may include: Translational bioinformatics, with an emphasis on utilizing bioinformatics theories, methods, and tools to address clinical and health problems at the individual and population levels; Data science, with a focus on integrating, mining, and using heterogeneous big datasets from multiple sources (e.g. clinical, genomic, behavioural, social, population, and environmental) to address challenging problems in patient care, health prevention, and biomedical discovery; Mobile health, with an emphasis on collecting, processing, and analyzing data from mobile devices/biosensors and integrating them with other data sources to address oral health challenges; or, salivary, proteomics with an emphasis on biomarkers, discovery and therapeutics.

The salary bands are: Assistant Professor $93,293 - $112,109; Associate Professor $112,109 – $130,925; Full Professor $130,925 - $152,877. Independent of rank, a starting salary above the standard salary bands is possible in rare and exceptional circumstances pursuant to Article of the 2014-2017 USFA Collective Agreement (see: This position includes a comprehensive benefits package which includes a dental, health and extended vision care plan; pension plan, life insurance (compulsory and voluntary), academic long term disability, sick leave, travel insurance, death benefits, an employee assistance program, a professional expense allowance and a flexible health and wellness spending program.
