The University of Saskatchewan, College of Dentistry is seeking applications from General Dentists for a full time tenure track Academic Programming Appointment (APA) position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor.

This position includes teaching, scholarly activity, and administrative work for 4 days a week, with one remaining day available for private clinical practice.  The primary responsibility of this position is to be a Group Practice Leader (GPL) who performs as a senior dentist-mentor to a small group of undergraduate dental students in order to ensure high quality patient care and student learning /experience. The GPL will collaborate with other Group Practice Leaders, dental specialists and clinical staff and will be responsible for providing high quality instruction in all disciplines that fall within the scope of practice of a general practitioner in Saskatchewan.  To meet Tenure and Promotion requirements, faculty in APA positions are required to engage in a moderate degree of scholarly activity that can be either clinical or educational in nature.

Job responsibilities within the undergraduate program include: overseeing the quality of students’ efforts; ensuring a high standard of comprehensive patient care; modelling/promoting a supportive and positive clinical environment; monitoring the clinical progression of DMD students; ensuring DMD students receive the required range of clinical experience through the program; and ensuring students  attain competency prior to graduation.

Candidates must have successfully completed their National Dental Examining Board of Canada examinations and be eligible for licensure by the College of Dental Surgeons of Saskatchewan. Preference will be given to candidates who have completed a GPR, AEGD or a Master’s program of studies. Previous teaching experience is an asset.   

Salary bands for this position are as follows: Assistant Professor: $93,293 to $112,109; Associate Professor: $112,109 to $130,925; and Professor $130,925 to $152,877. Independent of rank, a starting salary above the standard salary bands is possible in rare and exceptional circumstances pursuant to Article 18.2.6.12 of the 2014-2017 USFA Collective Agreement (see: http://www.usaskfaculty.ca/?attachment_id=3298).
