Assistant/Associate Professor Orthodontics

The Department of Preventive Dental Science, Dr. Gerald Niznick College of Dentistry, Rady Faculty of Health Sciences invites applications for a full-time Probationary (Tenure-track) or Tenured Assistant or Associate Professor in Orthodontics. Rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The appointment will commence on July 1, 2023, or as soon thereafter as possible.
Teaching responsibilities in the undergraduate and graduate programs will include but not limited to didactic, seminar, curriculum/program design, with implementation thereof, clinical supervision and interdisciplinary collaborations. Research responsibilities will involve supervision of students by serving on research committees for undergraduate/graduate dental students. Administrative duties will include serving as Clinical Director for the Graduate Orthodontic Program clinic. The appointee will be expected to develop a program of research, scholarly activities and provide service within the department, college, faculty, university, community and profession. The ideal applicant for this position at the rank of Assistant Professor will have experience teaching both clinically and didactically in an undergraduate and graduate program, with a keen interest in research, administration and must hold a masters level degree. For appointment at the rank of Associate Professor the applicant will have extensive experience in teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, masters-level research supervision with evidence of a successful dossier in research, including peer-reviewed publications and success in obtaining grant funding. At the Associate Professor level a PhD or similar degree would be a strong asset.
The appointee must have completed a full-time university-based Orthodontics specialty training program (three-year program length preferred). Additionally, they must have passed or be eligible to write the NDSE/RCDC (National Dental Specialty Exam/Royal College of Dentists of Canada).
Candidates must be eligible for licensure with the Manitoba Dental Association as a dental specialist in Orthodontics (Bylaw for Registration and Licensure of Dentists www.manitobadentist.ca. Extramural practice privilege is available one day, or two half days, per week upon application and signing of a Private Practice Agreement.
