Re: Dental Volunteerism: Is the Current Model Working?

It should be stressed that some NGOs, such as Dentistry for All, strive for sustainable long-term dental health solutions in impoverished countries.

By employing locals to provide year-round oral hygiene instruction in schools and communities, setting up permanent dental clinics in areas that aren’t serviced by trained dentists and by providing financial means for local students to become dentists, many of the issues raised by the authors of this article1 can be overcome.
