Dr. Carilynne Yarascavitch, a PhD student at the University of Toronto faculty of dentistry, was the 2010 recipient of the American Dental Education Association’s (ADEA) “Olav Alvares Award for Outstanding Articles Published in the Journal of Dental Education.

Dr. Yarascavitch received the honour for an article based on her master’s findings titled “Changes in dental student empathy during training” published in the April 2009 edition of the Journal of Dental Education.1 The award was presented on February 28 at the ADEA Annual Meeting held in Washington, DC. In addition to her PhD studies, Dr. Yarascavitch is a research fellow at the U of T’s Wilson Centre for Research in Education.
