An oral health section is currently being developed for an online portal that compiles best practice information on chronic disease prevention and health promotion programs.
The Canadian Best Practices Portal for Health Promotion and Chronic Disease Prevention (http://cbpp-pcpe.phac-aspc.gc.ca/) is a compendium of community interventions that have been evaluated, shown to be successful, and have the potential to be adapted and replicated by other health practitioners working in similar fields.
Housed within the Public Health Agency of Canada website, the Canadian Best Practices Portal outlines effective practices for disease prevention and health promotion in various health jurisdictions across the country.
The new oral health section will be developed over the coming months. Once finalized, program planners and researchers will have a valuable resource for developing or evaluating oral health prevention and promotion interventions.
The oral health component could include best practice information on oral health prevention, promotion and treatment programs for people with disabilities, seniors, low-income families, children and adolescents, and Aboriginal communities.
Visit the Canadian Best Practices Portal to learn more about the inclusion criteria for programs. If you would like to submit best practice information on a particular community oral health program, please use the online form at http://cbpp-pcpe.phac-aspc.gc.ca/recommend-eng.html, or email Dr. Barry Maze at barry.maze@dbmhc.ca.
