Colonel Scott Becker, the director of the Canadian Forces Dental Services (CFDS), was inducted as an Officer into the Order of Military Merit by Michaëlle Jean, Governor General of Canada.
The Order of Military Merit is a national order for military members, similar to the Order of Canada for members of the public. It recognizes conspicuous merit and exceptional service by members of the Canadian Forces. Appointment to the level of Officer is made for outstanding meritorious service in duties of responsibility.
Col. Becker has held many command appointments across Canada and has actively participated in all aspects of clinical dentistry. The CFDS director since 2002, Col. Becker has served on the executive of the Defence Forces Dental Services Section of the FDI World Dental Federation.
